Designing your website to Generate Traffic
Getting the right people to your website is people who matter to see one’s website is a difficult undertaking if he tries to consider the fact that there are rivals everywhere waiting to pin him down. The immensity of the internet as well as the affiliate marketing world has given birth to the fierce competition between affiliate marketers, each of whom has his own great product to offer. With all the websites piling on top of each other, how would one be able to stand out? The seven best ways to drive laser-targeted traffic to one’s own website would help those who are bent on sticking it out with this business wherever it is bound to take them. Probably the best way getting traffic to your website is by supplying good content that the search engines find. Having top search engine rankings is important in building popularity, and keywords are what get you there. Oddly enough, you can’t always go for the most popular keywords; there are millions of pages with ‘weight loss’ but go for something that a person would type while looking for your site. Using a full phrase ‘how to lose 8 pounds in 4 days’ will get a better reply, if you use the words properly. Once your website is in the top 10 on the search engine, people find you. Next is articles. Article writing is a full subject, but in a nutshell you want to write an article that will place high on the search engines and these articles can be used by you and then re-used by others. As long as you build one link to your site in the article and have a biography box, or resource box, at the end you should get traffic. Third in the list is directly contacting other webmasters to exchange links, or articles. Finding sites that are similar, but not competition, to your websites is easy. Once you find the sites, you call them. Find a phone number and call. Tell them you already have a link to their site, and tell the webmaster where it is. Ask for a link in exchange. Pull their link off if they don’t put one up for you. If you can, the next is audio or video files. Design your site to take advantage of these options. Don’t make one of those sites that starts talking to everyone, make it an option. Audio to explain something is great, an easy replay on an article is appreciated by many. You can build a 7 minute article to have your 30 second into to who you are and say there is a free offer at the end of the audio, 3 minutes of conversation, a 30 second sales pitch - and tell people there is a free offer again, then the final three minutes and a freebie. Anyone that listens hears about you 3 times in 7 minutes. Make that a 30 minute audio and you can advertise a friend as well. (OK, maybe not.) The fifth way is through joint venture marketing. There are some great classes on setting up joint ventures where you contact the possible partner. Design your site in a way that says “I am open to JV” and you will be contacted. There are multiple JV opportunities for you to pick and choose from. This is a great way to promote your product or a service. Having a partner doubles your reach and does not take away from you, as some people seem to think. This lets you hit a wide customer base in a short amount of time. The sixth is through creating an intern program. There have been more of these on the internet recently, this article covers enough points that each could be a class in an intern program. The teacher gives tasks that the student completes for the teacher. As an example, the student would do the 5 steps already listed in this article for the instructor. The teacher gains from articles, JV’s audio or video files, and the student learns how to do them. (then the student becomes the teacher). Design your site to create a mailing lists, then to get interaction with the people on that list. Password protect some entries on your blog and only give the password to people on your mailing list. Having a list of subscribers that you can refer to also helps when you are doing your JV or link exchange. Partners and webmasters will ask your numbers, so make sure you have them handy. Design auto-responders into your website. First time visitors get one pop-up, people who have been there before occasionally get another. Want to annoy people, give them a pop-up every time they visit. Design and personalized a weekly newsletter, or less often if weekly is not justified. Never let it go more than a month or you will lose touch with your regulars. Assume that you lose 10% of your regulars if you don’t reach out to them at least monthly. The tenth is by knowing your market. Design your site so it hits the emotion points that your market wants. Where will an American flag on the front page not work? Where is an Olympic symbol offensive? Know your market and don’t make your website for you, design it for your market. It is important for traffic to be targeted to those who might have a special interest in the theme or topic of one’s website. This way, a solid customer base is going to be created. Once a potential customer shows an interest in a particular website by paying it a visit, one must not waste time in trying to show him that his effort is worth it. Designing your website for traffic generation is important and failing to do so is failing.
